The momentum keeps on building for Mark Richt’s staff.

Not even a week after they landed 5-star running back Lorenzo Lingard, the Hurricanes added to the trenches. On Tuesday, 3-star defensive tackle Nesta Silvera committed to Miami. The Hurricanes now have nine total commits in the cycle, and are up to No. 4 in the 2018 recruiting class rankings.

Silvera, who’s from Plantation, Florida, released a statement regarding his decision to commit to Miami.

“First off, I would like to thank God because without him, none of this would be possible. I would like to thank my family and friends for the love and support throughout this whole process. The best feeling I’ve had in my life is being able to tell my mama, “College is on me!” I’m thankful for my big brother, Justice. He’s been there from Day 1 and has always supported me in whatever decisions I make — right or wrong. I’d also like to thank all of my teammates who grind with me every day on the field. Another thank you goes out to my great coaches at American Heritage, from Coach Pat Surtain to Coach Travis Spiva. Since I walked through those doors at American Heritage, they’ve showed love to me. They’ve helped me to get to where I am today, and I will continue to improve every day with their help. Also, thank you to Coach Mike Smith for working on my craft with me every single day and pushing me to be great on and off the field. Thanks to Coach Chad Wilson for teaching me that even when times are hard, you gotta’ man up and push through it. It has been a long journey, and I would like to thank every school that has offered me. But I’ve decided to end my recruitment and commit to the University of Miami!”

Silvera holds additional offers from Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi state, South Carolina and others.
