Nebraska vs. Northwestern prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Who wins between the Cornhuskers and Wildcats?

    Jonathan Bass

I’d love to go with Northwestern since it’s always more fun when the local team wins and, ya know, I had them taking the Big Ten West. Alas, they looked like trash in the first two games and only slightly better against Duke. The Wildcats should be going for a sterling 4-0 record, considering they haven’t yet left the great suburb of Evanston. I’m not as high on Nebraska as most people, even though the Oregon win was a biggie, but my confidence in Northwestern is about basement level.

    Robert Judin

Northwestern has had problems on offense. The Wildcats are ranked No. 117 in scoring offense and have home losses to Western Michigan and Illinois State to show for it. Anthony Walker is one of the best linebackers in the country, but he can’t do it all. Tommy Armstrong Jr. will hurt Northwestern with both his arm and his legs. Nebraska wins by one possession.

    Dave Miller

We often don’t know which version of Tommy Armstrong will show up on a weekly basis, but his strong effort with his arm and legs last week against Oregon helped the Cornhuskers remain unbeaten. Armstrong has struggled with turnovers in his career against the Wildcats, and this is yet another home game for Pat Fitzgerald’s squad. Justin Jackson should have a nice effort on the ground, but Mike Riley’s Huskers are a dangerous Big Ten West outfit with the ability to win at Ryan Field.

    Brian Stultz

Full confession: I am the reason that Northwestern has been so bad early this season. You see, I went up to a few practices in Evanston and am pretty sure that my physical beauty distracted them all from focusing on the task at hand … or so I like to think. Nebraska got a big win against Oregon this past week, and will continue to roll as Mike Riley earns some respect from the Big Red fan base. Sorry, Northwestern fans. I will buy you a beer at a local watering hole soon.
