Week 17 NCAA basketball rankings for the 2015-16 season. The entire AP Top 25 was put through the ringer in an up-and-down week.
It was another week of college basketball, which meant another week of irrational, erratic games.
There were 14 teams ranked in the AP Top 25 who saw at least one tally added to the loss column. Of those 14 teams, four of them were ranked within the top five.
Villanova became the latest No. 1-ranked team to fall thanks to Xavier.
Duke took down Florida State on Thursday and then turned around to lose to Pitt on Sunday. Miami beat Virginia to start off a big week for the Hurricanes, and then they took down Louisville to keep the streak going.
Below are the power rankings entering Week 17 of the college basketball season.
The Jayhawks took down Baylor on the road, 66-60, on Tuesday. Kansas extended its winning streak to nine with a 67-58 win over Texas Tech on Saturday.
The Sooners were riding high with a win over Oklahoma State on Wednesday, 71-49. But Oklahoma went on the road Saturday and was upset by the Texas Longhorns, 76-63.
The Wildcats’ seven-game winning streak came to an end when they were upset by Xavier, 90-83. Villanova responded by beating Marquette, 89-79, on Saturday.
Michigan State’s week saw its first win on the road over Ohio State on Tuesday, 81-62. The Spartans extended their winning streak to four games on Sunday, beating Penn State, 88-57.
The Cavaliers’ week started by falling to the Miami Hurricanes on Monday, 64-61. Virginia bounced back by beating UNC, 79-74, on Saturday.
It was a big week for the Hurricanes, who took down Virginia on Monday, 64-61. Miami was at it again on Saturday, beating Louisville, 73-65.
The Musketeers took down then-No. 1-ranked Villanova on Wednesday, 90-83. But Xavier was upset on Sunday by Seton Hall, 90-81.
The Ducks took care of Washington State on Wednesday, 76-62. Oregon picked up its second win of the week over Washington on Sunday, 86-73.
The Tar Heels took care of in-state rival NC State on Wednesday, 80-68. North Carolina wasn’t able to top Virginia on Saturday, though, falling 79-74 to the Cavaliers.
The Mountaineers took down Iowa State on Monday, 97-87, but they didn’t stop there. West Virginia made it back-to-back wins by taking down Oklahoma State, 70-56, on Saturday.
