4-Star OLB Nathan Proctor Commits To Virginia Tech Hokies

Four-star outside linebacker Nathan Proctor committed to Virginia Tech on Sunday, giving the Hokies 19 total pledges in the 2017 recruiting class.
The state of Maryland’s No. 1-ranked outside linebacker has made a decision and officially knows where he’ll spend his college career.
On Sunday, prior to the 2017 Under Armour All-America Game, 4-star recruit Nathan Proctor committed to Virginia Tech. The addition of the nation’s No. 11 outside linebacker and No. 161 overall player gives the Hokies 19 total commits in this cycle.
Justin Fuente’s team added 210 recruiting points with the addition of Proctor, and Virginia Tech now moves up from No. 41 to No. 33 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings.
Proctor, who’s from Indian Head, MD, chose the Hokies over his home-state Maryland Terrapins, Penn State and Pitt.
At 6-foot-3, 220 lbs., Proctor brings versatility to the defensive side of the ball for the Hokies. In a 3-4 scheme, he can stand up and play outside linebacker. But in a 4-3 look, he can put a hand in the dirt and come off the edge, providing a pass rush for the Hokies.
In his senior season, Proctor recorded 74 total tackles. Of those 74, 46 of them were solo tackles and 16 were for a loss. He also racked up 14 quarterback hurries and recorded eight sacks in 11 games. The 4-star prospect is the third linebacker Virginia Tech has committed in its 2017 class. He joins 3-star inside linebackers Jaylen Griffin and Rayshard Ashby.
Proctor does have official visits set up at UCLA on Jan. 13, at Penn State on Jan. 20 and at Ole Miss on Jan. 27. However, it’s unknown at this time whether or not he will still take those visits.
