Four-star linebacker Nate McBride committed to UGA on Christmas Day. His commitment bumps the Georgia Bulldogs up to No. 3 in the team recruiting rankings.

Kirby Smart received a merry little Christmas gift on Sunday, when 4-star linebacker Nate McBride committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. In a video released by Dawg Nation, McBride played out an extended Christmas scene that culminated with him choosing the Dawgs.

“I’ve always wanted to play for a great team, and I’ve always wanted to commit to The G,” McBride said at the video’s conclusion.

If UGA fans weren’t excited enough about landing the nation’s No. 6 inside linebacker, then the sight of the Vidalia, Georgia native alongside fellow Peach State recruits at video’s end should cause ears to perk up. McBride was flanked by 5-star quarterback Jake Fromm (Warner Robins, Georgia) and 4-star safety Richard LeCounte (Hinesville, Georgia), with the trio setting out to land another Dawg commit.

McBride’s decision was down to the Bulldogs, UGA rival Auburn and the Oregon Ducks. He had taken an official visit to The Plains roughly 48 hours before the recruiting dead period took hold, but ultimately Gus Malzahn and Kevin Steele couldn’t pluck the dynamic linebacker from his home state.

With the commitment, UGA now sits at No. 3 in the team recruiting rankings behind only Alabama and Michigan – Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. And, judging from the end of McBride’s video, Smart’s program is poised for a strong close in the run up to National Signing Day.
