That’s why several of the nation’s premier programs are doing all they can to sway his commitment in their favor, including Auburn, Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, Ohio State, Ole Miss and, now, Maryland. Other teams are also in the mix, but those are believed to be the main contenders.
Craig-Myers committed to Gus Malzahn and the Tigers, but he backed off his pledge last May in order to weigh his options.
Despite having plenty of suitors, the Tampa Catholic prospect doesn’t have a frontrunner with a week to go in 2015.
“I don’t have any favorites, I’m still considering Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Auburn and Maryland a bit,” Craig-Myers told Ahmed Ghafir of Inisde MD Sports. “I’m just thinking things over before the end of the dead period, we’ll see.”
The Terps have creeped into the picture as of late, but a lot of that has to do with the pledge of the nation’s No. 7 pro-style quarterback, Dwayne Haskins. Thanks to Haskins, Maryland has caught Craig-Myers’ attention, but the QB’s commitment is thought to be shaky following the coaching overhaul.
“Him [Haskins] at Maryland has me thinking about the Terps a lot more,” Craig-Myers said.
“To be honest, Haskins got them on my radar. I think they have some good things going there, and when you look at the class they’re bringing in, they have some guys that are really going to turn the program around. It’s a chance to a part of something special, not a lot of the programs are in the spot Maryland is in now, so it’s something different.”
If Maryland can hold on to Haskins, who is also being heavily pursued by Ohio State and Florida, the Terps stand a much better chance of landing the 6-foot-2, 205-pound wide receiver.
Craig-Myers, who’s ranked as the No. 3 wideout and No. 33 overall player by 247Sports Composite, has one official visit left to fill. He’s deciding between a trip to Ohio State or Maryland.
Auburn and Ole Miss will also receive a visit from Craig-Myers on Jan. 15 and Jan. 26, respectively.
