Five-star running back Najee Harris is set to make his final decision soon but is undecided between Alabama and Michigan.

Choosing a university is one of the most important — it not the most important — decision high school seniors will make. It determines the rest of their lives.

That’s why Najee Harris is taking his time.

The country’s No. 1 running back and No. 1 overall player has been committed to Alabama since April of 2015, but the Michigan Wolverines have gone all out in hope of trying to flip Harris from the Crimson Tide.

And while he’s set to make his final decision known on Saturday following the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Harris doesn’t yet know which school he’ll pick.

Harris told 247Sports he’s still undecided on whether he’ll choose Alabama or Michigan but doesn’t want to talk about it until after the Army Bowl, as he’s focusing on playing football. He’s relaying the same message to the other recruits participating in the game.

“I’m going to tell them the same thing: Let’s just worry about the game,” Harris said. “Eno’s [Benjamin] always asking me. I’m like, ‘Dude, don’t worry about me, worry about the game.’”

Harris carries the same attitude toward the coaches from both the Crimson Tide and the Wolverines.

“I talk to both of them. I don’t call them. I’m not worried about it. I’m doing workouts 100 percent. They always bug me in the workouts. I’ll tell them, ‘Hold up, I’m trying to work out.’ Both schools have been busy lately ’cause the games. Whatever free time they get, they’ll talk to me, but it’s quick.”

Harris has never been one to make a big production out of his recruitment. For the most part, he’s stayed in the shadows, put his head down and cared only about playing football.

As soon as the Army Bowl wraps up, he’ll announce his decision in true Harris fashion — like ripping off a band-aid.

But while conflicting reports continue to circulate on which program he’ll choose, all we can do is look at the signs.

Harris donned maize and blue on his Snapchat story this past Christmas, and he recently followed, and was followed by, Michigan commits on Instagram. Many Alabama commits believe Harris will roll with the Tide, but it really is up in the air.

Lane Kiffin’s departure from Alabama won’t have an impact on Harris’ decision, but it is something to consider. Steve Sarkisian is taking over the offensive coordinator duties in the College Football Playoff title game and will take the full-time job in 2017.

The emergence of Bo Scarbrough in the win over Washington illuminated the fact Alabama has running backs for days. In addition to Scarbrough, the Tide field Damien Harris, B.J. Emmons and Josh Jacobs. Plus, the program has 4-star running back Brian Robinson committed in this class.

Harris could find reps — if not start — from Day 1 in Ann Arbor. Whereas, if he chose Alabama, he’d have to wait his turn.

Regardless, we now have a timer set for Harris’ commitment. Time to watch the clock.
