I’ve covered the Big Ten all season and have been saying Nebraska is overrated all season. It doesn’t have any quality wins and it was completely embarrassed by Ohio State and Iowa. Add in the fact that Tommy Armstrong is nursing an injury, and there’s not chance I’m picking the Huskers to beat Tennessee – which also is overrated but has more talent.

Good lord, this is a tough one. Let’s go with Tennessee here, as Butch Jones seems to do well when preaching the bunker mentality. Josh Dobbs goes out a winner, and the overwhelming amount of Vols fans in Nissan Stadium create a near home-field advantage for Tennessee.

Not once have I bought into what Tennessee was selling this year. I didn’t buy into the preseason hype, nor did I buy into their championship aspirations after they finally beat Florida. I’m not convinced that Joshua Dobbs has a future at quarterback, and I think Tommy Armstrong Jr. will take over this game and lead the Cornhuskers to a huge win in a back-and-forth game.

The Vols are talented enough to compete with and beat many teams across the college football landscape. Butch Jones and Co. should be able to take care of a Cornhuskers squad that is banged-up at several positions. But Tennessee was disappointed in its 2016 season, which leads to questions about how motivated this squad will be for this one. I’m an eternal optimist in general, so I think Jones will have his team ready to jump on the Huskers early. Mike Riley’s team won’t give up at any point, but the Vols will get a big game from quarterback Josh Dobbs against a Huskers secondary that relies on creating turnovers. The Vols will cap off a disappointing year with a win in Nashville.

My colleague Robert Judin is obviously still angry about wasting his time and driving to Knoxville for the Florida-Tennessee game. I like the Volunteers in this one, especially since the health of Tommy Armstrong Jr. might not be 100%. Tennessee wins, and Butch Jones gives a speech that breaks the number of coach cliches used in one minute.
