November 5, 2015The No. 24 Mississippi State Bulldogs will travel to Columbia to face the Missouri Tigers in an SEC matchup of two teams heading in different directions.
Fresh off the bye week, the Bulldogs (5-2, 2-2 SEC) are hitting their stride having won three straight games, including a 42-16 whooping of Kentucky their last time out. Mississippi State was led by Dak Prescott’s six total touchdowns (three passing, three rushing) and 465 total yards (348 passing, 117 rushing), showing off what made him so special last season. Taveze Calhoun played a big part in a Bulldogs defense that gave Kentucky’s Patrick Towles fits, picking off the quarterback not once but twice to help Mississippi State put the Wildcats in the rearview. After Thursday’s matchup, the remainder of the schedule becomes a tumultuous one for the Bulldogs with meetings against Alabama, Arkansas, and Ole Miss for the Egg Bowl in the final week of the season.
The Tigers (4-4, 1-3 SEC) are also coming off a much-needed bye week and hopefully have reenergized their offense after scoring a combined 12 points the past three games (all losses). Last time out, the Tigers fell 10-3 to Vanderbilt, giving Commodores head coach Derek Mason his first conference win in 12 attempts. Missouri missed Maty Mauk dearly yet again as the Drew Lock-led offense generated a mere 188 total yards. The Tigers converted a first down on their first play from scrimmage and didn’t record another one for 41 minutes, finishing 3-for-41 on third downs on the day.
Thursday night’s matchup will be just the third between these two teams and the first since 1984. Missouri has won both of the previous meetings.
Below is everything you need to know about the game, including the Mississippi State vs. Missouri online live stream, TV broadcast information, game notes and prediction.
Missouri’s offense is going to score a touchdown. The offense isn’t going to blow up, but it’s going to be a wee bit better over getting two weeks to try getting things together. It still won’t be enough. Dak Prescott is playing as well as anyone in the SEC – Mr. Fournette almost included – but the Tiger D will keep him in check. It’s going to be another rough Tiger game.
