5 Keys to the Schedule
– Where’s the nasty non-conference game? Going to BYU is intriguing, but South Alabama, at UMass, and Samford isn’t a tough slate to deal with compared to what every other SEC has. Everyone else has at least one game it’ll have to sweat out, and while BYU is it, it’s not like Ole Miss playing Florida State, Alabama playing USC, or LSU going to Wisconsin.
– The Bulldogs’ permanent East foe is Kentucky, and getting South Carolina at home is yet another massive break. No Tennessee, no Florida, no Georgia. Combine that with the non-conference schedule, and if MSU is any good, there’s six wins right there.
– Can the Bulldogs make any real noise in the West? At LSU, at Alabama, at Ole Miss – uh oh. Win two of those three, and they’ll be a big player. Obviously that’s asking a lot.
– There’s a rough midseason run to deal with going on the road for four games in five dates. There’s a week off before the home game against Auburn, but then come the road trips to BYU and Kentucky, and trips to LSU and UMass come before the bye.
– WATCH OUT FOR … South Carolina. Are the Gamecocks going to be back to being good again? It’s the SEC opener for Bulldogs, and they’re going to need the with the road game at LSU to follow. That trip to Death Valley kicks off the rough run of road games.
