    Why You Need To Care

The past three weeks have not been kind to No. 11 Michigan State, which has gone 3-3 in its last six games after starting the season out 13-0. More importantly, the Spartans started slumping right when Big Ten play sparked up — never a good time. Ethan Happ and the Wisconsin Badgers handed Michigan State its latest loss.

The Spartans will now host Nebraska in the Breslin Center, nearly a week after losing their first home game of the season to Iowa. As far as the Cornhuskers go, it’s been a little rough the entire season. Nebraska is 11-8 and 3-3 in conference play.

    Why Michigan State Will Win

The Spartans were lit up by Bronson Koenig and Nigel Hayes against the Badgers, and they can’t afford to let Andrew White III go off like they did. The defense has to be better. Force other players to step up and beat them. If Denzel Valentine matches his output against Wisconsin and Matt Costello snatches a double-double, Michigan State will win.

    Why Nebraska Will Win

White absolutely wrecked Illinois with 21 points and 13 rebounds. If he’s getting help from Shavon Shields and Glynn Watson Jr., the Cornhuskers can be dangerous. They’ll have to keep Costello off the glass and throw doubles at Valentine strategically throughout the night. Aside from that, make sure you rotate to Bryn Forbes because he can knock down daggers from the outside.

    What’s Going To Happen?

Michigan State has been sluggish recently, and until it breaks out of the slump, there’s no reason to expect the same brand of basketball we all saw earlier in the season. Having said that, Valentine has slowly but surely gotten back into a rhythm. He and Costello will do work on the boards and carry the scoring load to help the Spartans pull out a win.
