Michigan State-Ohio State: Tom Izzo Makes Confident Game Pick

The Michigan State-Ohio State game is this weekend's main event. Spartans basketball coach Tom Izzo gives his game pick ahead of the big matchup.

Tom Izzo has to be feeling pretty good about his Michigan State Spartans squad right now. After being knocked out in the Final Four by Duke last season, MSU has started the 2015-16 season 2-0 — including a big win against No. 4 Kansas on Tuesday night.

The Spartans will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday, but there’s an even bigger MSU game taking place on Saturday … on the football field.

Defending national champion — and still undefeated — Ohio State will host the Spartans in “The Horseshoe.” Izzo seems pretty confident his buddy Mark Dantonio can finally put a blemish on the Buckeyes’ record.

“I wanted to start off the week on the right note, and maybe we’ll all go over and visit our football team tomorrow and tell them that underdogs can win,” Izzo said.

Izzo referenced how his team — ranked No. 13 by the AP — was an underdog against the Jayhawks, and he’s looking forward to a big game on a big stage.

“Well, I’m gonna take the Spartans, you know,” Izzo said confidently. “I think Ohio State is really, really, really, really good, but I think it’s our week.”

Kickoff between Michigan State and Ohio State on Saturday is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
