A Michigan football recruiting update for the week of March 30, 2016. The Wolverines made some key additions to their 2017 class.

Jim Harbaugh’s team had a banner week in the world of recruiting. The Wolverines jumped from No. 16 in the class rankings to No. 10 thanks to two new additions to their 2017 class.

Michigan added Groton, Mass. native A.J. Dillon, who joins Kurt Taylor as the second 3-star running back to commit to the Wolverines in the cycle. Four-star safety J’Marick Woods, from Florence, Ala., also committed to don maize and blue.

Dillon is a solid 6-foot-1, 235 lbs of pure power. He runs hard and breaks through tackles while still flashing an ability to maintain his balance and bounce outside.

As for Woods, he’s a tall, lengthy playmaker standing at 6-foot-4, 194 lbs. He’s an instinctual defensive back with quick reflexes and excellent ball skills. Woods has a natural tendency to find the ball in the air and flip the field. Aside from being a ballhawk, he can lay the wood with some big hits every now and then.

Harbaugh’s staff also extended scholarship offers to two 2018 quarterbacks: 5-star Trevor Lawrence and 4-star Jack West. Michigan would be battling Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Clemson for Lawrence while Alabama is the top contender for West.

As spring practice continues, here’s a look at how Michigan’s 2017 class shakes out right now.
