Four-star wide receiver Michael Wilson has committed to Stanford. The Cardinal now have three pledges in their 2018 class.

David Shaw is coming off of another double-digit win season, as Stanford went 10-3 last season and defeated North Carolina, 25-23, in the Sun Bowl.

If the Cardinal want to remain a consistent winner in an increasingly more difficult Pac-12, top playmakers will be needed on offense. Shaw and Co. hope that Michael Wilson can be a key piece for that unit for many years to come.

The Cardinal received a commitment from the 4-star wide receiver, as Wilson chose the school over 13 other scholarship offers from major programs across the country. The Chaminade High School product is considered to be one of California’s best recruits regardless of position, and he becomes the first in-state pledge and third member of Stanford’s 2018 class.

Wison, a 6-foot-2, 180-pounder, gave up basketball this past season to focus on football. He caught 70 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior. He is a physical receiver who is able to use his size to create separation against smaller defenders, and he is a good blocker as well.

Academics were a significant factor in his decision, and many recruiting analysts believed that he would eventually decide between Stanford and Notre Dame. He never made a visit to South Bend, though, instead taking an unofficial visit to the Stanford campus. He obviously enjoyed the experience, as he will be off to play for the Cardinal after a final season of high school competition.
