Micah Parsons recruiting profile features the No. 3 player in the CI 25 for 2018. Parsons has established himself as an elite threat off the edge.
February 17, 2017Recruiting profile featuring Micah Parsons, the No. 3 prospect in the inaugural CI 25 recruiting rankings.
CI 25 Overall Ranking: No. 3
CI 25 Position Ranking: No. 2
Hometown: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
School: Central Dauphin Senior High School
Position: DE
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 236 lbs
Tell your running backs to keep an eye out for Micah Parsons. If they don’t, he’ll flatten them without hesitation. Parsons is athletic enough to act as a 3-4 JACK linebacker, but he can put his hand in the dirt and cause fits for offensive linemen out of a three-point stance. He explodes off the edge and will live in the opposition’s backfield.
With the way Florida State has produced weakside defensive ends, the Seminoles would be an excellent fit for Parsons. But Penn State will be able to utilize him well, too. Ohio State would be another solid match, as the Buckeyes could end up using Parsons the way they used Joey Bosa.
“He is uber-explosive and his balance is a strength. He is quick at the snap of the ball, and he changes direction well. He can chase a play down from behind and he uses his length to corral the ball carrier. ” – Scout
Status: Committed – Penn State
Commitment Date: February 27, 2016
Notable Offers: Florida State, LSU, Michigan, NC State, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, UCLA and USC
With the momentum the Nittany Lions have on the recruiting trail right now, it would take a lot for Parsons to end up anywhere else. Ohio State is stacked with young, athletic defensive linemen, and Penn State could offer him a chance for a starting job on Day 1.
FSU has the same “problem” the Buckeyes have, as the Seminoles couldn’t offer as many early reps as the Nittany Lions can. Plus, Penn State is the home-state team. Barring any unforeseen changes to the coaching staff, Parsons should end up playing in Happy Valley.
