Miami football recruiting update for the week of April 17, 2017. Mark Richt’s Hurricanes have added a 4-star tight end to their 2018 class.

One commit after another, Mark Richt’s Hurricanes are continuing to distance themselves from the rest of the pack.

On Sunday night, 4-star prospect Brevin Jordan, the No. 1 tight end in the country, committed to Miami immediately after taking an unofficial visit to Michigan. The ‘Canes increased their lead as the No. 1 team in the 2018 recruiting class rankings, and they’re not done yet.

Despite the fact it lost out to rival Florida State for the commitment of 4-star cornerback Asante Samuel Jr., Miami is still in the running for 4-star cornerback Al Blades Jr. It will have to hold off Auburn for his eventual commitment.

Four-star cornerback Tyson Campbell is another prospects on the Hurricanes’ radar, but they’re battling with both Clemson and LSU right now, and it appears as though Ed Orgeron will win out in the end.

And with Jordan having chosen Miami, 4-star tight end Will Mallory might now be priority for Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines at the position. The ‘Canes are still eyeing Mallory, a Jacksonville native, but the addition of Jordan certainly removes the urgency to land a second tight end in the class.
