Miami football recruiting update for the week of March 25, 2016.
Mark Richt continued his hot streak on the recruiting trail over the past week.
Miami landed four commitments in three days, pushing its total to 14 commits in the 2017 class.
The Hurricanes added 3-star tight end Brian Polendey, from Denton, Texas. He has ideal size for a tight end at 6-foot-5, 223 lbs, and he has a healthy balance of receiving and blocking in his game.
Polendey can line up in a three-point stance or split out wide. He has average hands and is best used in stick routes and out routes, but he’s a terrific blocker with a powerful initial push and the abilities to set the edge and block downfield.
Cade Weldon is a one-read passer who loves to throw the long ball. While his arm strength is above average at best, he does have a good feel for placement and is sneaky athletic out of the pocket.
The other quarterback Miami added was N’Kosi Perry. He’s a clear dual-threat passer. His biggest attribute is his ability to make plays with his legs. He shows an ability to climb the pocket without getting happy feet. He takes off when there’s absolutely nothing downfield or when he’s forced to do so. There’s some arm strength there, but he needs to tighten up the release.
Last, but not least, is Kevaughn Dingle. He’s a 6-foot-1, 188-pound wide receiver who eats up yards after the catch. Dingle does a great job of breaking the first tackle and turning up field. He has the ability to go over the middle and catch in traffic. He just needs to work on exploding out of his cuts and creating separation.
Below is a breakdown of Miami’s 2017 class as it stands right now.
