A Miami football recruiting update as Mark Richt looks to build the Hurricanes his way.
After 15 seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs, Mark Richt is finally back with his alma mater.
In Richt’s first recruiting class, he had a limited amount of time to not only hold onto the Hurricanes’ commits but to also convince others to bring their talents to South Florida.
Miami held on to 4-star wide receivers Sam Bruce and Dionte Mullins. He also retained 4-star quarterback Jack Allison, who will likely be the future starting quarterback once Brad Kaaya takes his shot at the NFL.
The Canes finished with the No. 38 class in the 2016 cycle, but the 2017 haul will likely be more promising. Richt’s already off to a great start to balloon that ranking.
Miami is one of two schools in the top 10 of the class rankings that already boasts double-digit commits (Ohio State is the other). Richt’s biggest challenge will be keeping the prospects in his own backyard. South Florida is a filled with big-time recruits, and other programs have been snatching them out from under the Canes’ nose for years now.
Below is a breakdown of Miami’s 2017 class as it stands right now.
