While it’s a long shot in swaying Matt Corral away from his USC commitment, two SEC teams on the other side of the country will get their opportunity this spring.

Alabama and Georgia will both host the elite quarterback out of Long Beach, California, according to Tom Loy of 247Sports.

The Crimson Tide have had success out west under Nick Saban’s watch. They plucked No. 1 overall recruit Najee Harris out of California this past cycle, and stretched even further west into Hawaii to land highly-touted 4-star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. In the 2016 class, Alabama landed 4-star offensive tackle Jonah Williams out of California.

As for Georgia, the Bulldogs landed the nation’s No. 2 quarterback in 2016, Jacob Eason, out of Washington, so their also no stranger to success on the West Coast.

A gifted signal-caller who has the tools to blossom into a star at the next level, Corral committed to the home-state Trojans in February of his sophomore year (2016). The Trojans originally offered him in October 2015.

Corral is listed at 6’2″ and 199 pounds, and has the arm strength and accuracy to make any throw on the field. He’s also mobile enough to keep plays alive. However, he’ll need to tighten up on his mechanics, though that’s usually the case with high school quarterbacks making the leap to college.

Corral recently transferred from Oaks Christian to Long Beach Poly. It was a move that made headlines due to an Wayne Gretzky’s son likely causing the transfer.
