Maryland vs. Hawaii picks for the NCAA Tournament's second round game.
March 18, 2016Hawaii pulled out the upset against Cal during the first round on Friday. The Golden Bears were playing amid a wealth of controversy regarding the coaching staff, and were without Tyrone Wallace who missed the game with a broken hand. All of the adversity proved too much, and a hard-charging Hawaii team now moves on to the second round.
As for Maryland, the Terps survived a thriller against the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State. Maryland has one of the most talented rosters in the NCAA Tournament, but have had trouble playing like a cohesive unit all year long. The malaise of the regular season nearly rolled over into the first round of March Madness. Now they must take on a plucky Hawaii team who looked really good in their opening matchup.
Here are the Campus Insiders Maryland vs. Hawaii picks.
Maryland won’t lose all its good players like Cal did … The Terps got their wake-up call and will rip through the Rainbow Warriors.
Hawaii held Cal to a low shooting percentage (41%). They’ll force turnovers and play havock against an inconsistent Maryland team. Rainbow Warriors take it.
Hawaii advances. I liked this Rainbow Warriors team prior to Cal’s leading scorer going out and I beileve in their senior Quincy Smith can take care of Maryland.
I’m going with Maryland here. The Terps barely won in spite of Melo Trimble fouling out. Trimble will come back better than ever and take Maryland to the Sweet 16.
Maryland got their wake-up call. They continue to shoot above 50% and beat Hawaii.
I like Hawaii. They’ll take Maryland out of their comfort zone with a physical brand of basketball.
