The DBU battle will continue to wage on for many years. With the usual contenders all hanging around, it would be wrong to not include Ohio State in the conversation.

Last year, the Buckeyes produced Eli Apple and Vonn Bell. This year, they’re back at it again with Malik Hooker and Marshon Lattimore ranking as two of the top defensive backs in the 2017 NFL Draft class.

While injury kept Hooker from running at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Lattimore did line up and run the 40-yard dash. And he blew everyone away with his times.

On his first attempt, the 6-foot-1, 192-pound cornerback was clocked at 4.36 seconds. And on his second attempt, Lattimore crossed the finish line at 4.37 seconds.

Lattimore has, for a long time, been considered one of the top-three cornerback prospects in the draft, and he surely cemented himself as a top-10 pick with his 40-yard-dash performance.

But when you look at his full body of work, Lattimore could end up being a top-five pick and the first cornerback selected when the draft rolls around in late April.

This past season, Lattimore picked off four passes and returned one for a touchdown. He also totaled 41 tackles and broke up nine passes.
