March 19, 2017Four-star wide receiver Marquis Spiker committed to Washington on Friday, giving the Huskies five total commits in the 2018 recruiting class.
Chris Petersen’s staff continues to build its 2018 recruiting class with an emphasis on the offensive side of the ball.
On Friday, for the second time in the cycle, the Huskies dipped into the Golden State for a 4-star wide receiver when Marquis Spiker committed to Washington. The Murrieta, California native joins Mission Viejo, California prospect and 4-star receiver Austin Osborne, who committed in February.
Spiker becomes the Huskies’ fifth total commit, and his pledge moved Washington up from No. 14 to No. 9 in the 2018 recruiting class rankings.
He’s ranked as the No. 14 wide receiver and No. 87 overall player in the country, and he holds additional scholarship offers from Arizona, Cal, Colorado, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington State, among others.
At 6-foot-3, 180 lbs Spiker has excellent body control and terrific hands. He’s a go-to target in the red zone and does a great job of getting behind the defense.
He’ll be a nice complement to Osborne, who can provide a vertical threat with his speed and quickness off the line of scrimmage.
And when considering the Huskies also have a commitment from 5-star quarterback Jacob Sirmon, the future Washington offense will be in good hands and filled with blue-chip prospects.
