April 7, 2016Mack Wilson had a torn labrum injury that required surgery. From the look of things, the Alabama linebacker is doing well.
Mack Wilson’s spring got off to a bit of an inauspicious start. In March, Wilson was informed by Alabama orthopedic consultant Dr. Lyle Cain that he had a torn labrum – an injury that he had reportedly been ailing from since his sophomore year in high school.
The surgery has now come and gone, and judging from the grin on his face and the positive vibes springing from his social media feed, things went well.
“Your boy surgery went great.. I love you all and thanks for the prayers & one last thing,” Wilson wrote on Twitter.
Wilson’s timetable for recovery was initially set at three-to-four months. If that holds true, he would be back on the field sometime between early July and August – the tailend of summer camp.
Ranked as the No. 2 inside linebacker in the country out of high school, Wilson was one cog in a stellar 2016 recruiting class for Alabama. He came to the school flanked by the nation’s No. 1 linebacker Ben Davis. While the surgery is certainly a setback for Wilson’s immediate development, from a team standpoint the Crimson Tide have plenty of bodies to trot out onto the field – a luxury that will prevent rushing the return of one of their most talented new players.
