MAC Championship Game Tie-Breakers, Scenarios For 2015

MAC Championship Game tie-breakers and scenarios for 2015. Breaking down which teams still have a shot to make the title game.

    November 16, 2015

A look at the MAC championship game tie-breakers and potential scenarios for each division.

The MACtion – sorry about that – on weekday nights matter more than ever, and the intensity should be there in several great showdowns.

Central Michigan will play a role, Ohio will be a factor, and the MAC championship game should be impressive. It’s one of the best seasons ever for the MAC, and it’s coming through in a great season and a huge finish.

If the American Athletic Conference trips all over itself, the MAC could sneak its way into the New Year’s Six bowl scenario if Toledo wins out or if Bowling Green bombs away and looks phenomenal on the way to a championship. The Falcons are already in the MAC Championship game, but they could use a killer team from the West to make it a must-watch game.

Western Michigan is the key to the West, with the big games there for the taking. If the Broncos win out, they take the MAC title, while Toledo and Northern Illinois need a little bit of help.

Toledo needs Northern Illinois to lose, Northern Illinois can control its own world by winning out, but it could also slip in if Western Michigan beats Toledo.

    Got all of that?

    – Bowling Green won the East.

    – Toledo wins with wins over at Bowling Green and Western Michigan AND a Northern Illinois loss. Or, with a win over WMU and a WMU win over Northern Illinois.

    – Northern Illinois wins with wins over Western Michigan and Ohio. Or, with a win over WMU and a WMU win over Toledo.

    – Western Michigan wins with wins over at Northern Illinois and at Toledo.
