February 14, 2017Three-star offensive tackle Cole Mabry committed to Notre Dame on Tuesday evening, giving the Fighting Irish its ninth total commit in the 2018 recruiting class.
No other college football program has been as hot as Notre Dame in the last two days.
The Fighting Irish moved up to No. 2 in the 2018 recruiting rankings on Monday when they landed 4-star cornerback Kalon Gervin and 4-star safety Derrik Allen.
Brian Kelly’s staff added another one on Tuesday night when 3-star offensive tackle Cole Mabry committed to Notre Dame. Now, the Irish have nine total commits in the cycle but still sit at No. 2 in the class rankings behind Penn State and its 11 total commits.
Mabry, who’s from Brentwood, Tennessee, measures in at 6-foot-6, 270 lbs. He released a statement regarding his decision to give Notre Dame his pledge.
“First, I would [like] to say thank you to God for providing the opportunity to play football and guiding me along this journey. Next, I would like to say thank you to my family for support and my coaches and teammates for pushing me to be the best I can be. Thank you to all the coaches and teams that have recruited me.
I’M PROUD TO DAY [sic] THAT I HAVE COMMITTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME!!! GO IRISH”
After finishing off the 2017 recruiting cycle with the No. 14-ranked class, the Fighting Irish have gotten off to an extremely hot start for its 2018 haul.
