January 18, 2017With National Signing Day looming, here’s a look at a mock 2017 recruiting class for the LSU Tigers. Ed Orgeron is looking to cap off his first recruiting class in Baton Rouge.
This is it. Ed Orgeron is in the driver’s seat, and he’s looking to finish off his first recruiting class as LSU’s head coach. Of course, it certainly won’t be easy. With about two weeks left before National Signing Day, the Tigers are battling Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma and USF for 5-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson.
If the Tigers can’t land the No. 1 defensive tackle in the country, they fortunately won’t be short on defensive linemen, as there are four committed in the class. And a solid back-up plan would be 4-star defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis, who is still uncommitted.
With that said, here is a look at a mock LSU Tigers recruiting class as the 2017 cycle nears its end.
He sees the field well and has a beautiful release. Brennan can generate more zip on the ball by using less of his arm and more of his lower body to drive through the ball.
With a health report that includes two torn ACLs, let’s see how his game is affected moving forward as a dual-threat quarterback.
He’s a solid receiver out of the backfield and can be utilized on third downs.
He’ll be a valuable fullback for LSU.
The former Texas A&M commit can stretch the field vertically and can turn five-yard grabs into 30-yard gains.
The Tigers look to be in good shape for his commitment.

Deculus can come in on Day 1 and make an immediate impact. He’s very strong and will be great in the running game.
He has great footwork for being 6-foot-5, 310 pounds, and can slide out to offensive tackle if necessary. However, Charles will likely stay at guard.
He’s nasty when he’s pulling and out in space, and will clear a path for those talented LSU tailbacks.
He has long arms and gets his hands up under the defender’s chest plate.
Shelvin is extremely powerful and is agile for his size. He’ll overpower a lot of guards at the next level.
It looks like LSU will beat out Alabama here.
He’s a powerful run stopper who wraps up when he gets his hands on the ball carrier.
Thomas wins in the trenches by keeping his pad level low and gaining leverage.
He could end up evolving into a 3-4 outside linebacker with his ability to make plays off the edge.
Michigan and Mississippi State are the biggest threats to LSU in his recruitment.
Kary Vincent is one of the quickest cornerbacks in the class. He tracks the ball well and can lay a big hit from time to time.
He’s a ballhawk with a nose for the end zone.
All signs point to him joining the Tigers’ secondary.
LSU will have to beat out Oklahoma State here.
He could be a star in the LSU secondary.
He’ll likely make the full-time switch to linebacker.
Kirklin explodes out of his breaks and can change direction seamlessly.
