    5 Keys to the Schedule

    – LSU should be one of the best teams in the country to start the season, and it’ll get a shot to show it against Wisconsin in Lambeau Field in one of the season’s most fun non-conference games. Making the trip up into Big Ten country makes up for the other non-conference games against Jacksonville State, Southern Miss and South Alabama. The Southern Miss game, though, should be a little bit of a firefight.

    – The West battles against Alabama and Ole Miss are at home. Even with the games against Auburn, Arkansas and Texas A&M on the road, LSU will take the trade getting the Crimson Tide and Rebels in Death Valley.

    – The games against the East are against Missouri at home and on the road at Florida. The date with the Gators could be a preview of the SEC championship if all goes well, while the Mizzou game shouldn’t be much of a problem, even if it’s sandwiched between the road games at Auburn and Florida.

    – There’s a nice run of four home games in five dates, with a week off thrown in there. Two of those home games are against Ole Miss and Alabama, but it’s still a lot of time spent around home cooking for a key part of the season.

    – WATCH OUT FOR … Arkansas. Last year the Tigers were beaten up and demoralized by Alabama, and they essentially lost the game twice failing to show up at home the week after against Arkansas. This year, it’s late in the season with a road trip to Texas A&M still to deal with. No matter how things go against the Crimson Tide, LSU needs to be ready to take the Hogs’ best shot.

2017 Non-Conference Games BYU (in Houston), Chattanooga, Syracuse, Troy
