LSU football recruiting update as of Dec. 23, 2015. The Tigers are trying to add to a top-10 class.
December 23, 2015Les Miles was (apparently) very, very close to not returning as the head coach of the Tigers.
But the powers that be at LSU decided to keep Miles around following the final regular season game, which, given his resume, was a smart decision. Not only has he led the Tigers to a national championship and a 111-32 record during his time in Baton Rouge, La., but he’s established himself as one of the nation’s elite recruiters.
That reputation wasn’t enough to hold onto 4-star quarterback Feleipe Franks, who flipped his commitment to the Florida Gators. But it made sense because Franks is from Crawfordville, Fla., so he understandably wanted to play closer to home.
The Tigers haven’t added anyone to the class since 4-star wide receiver Dee Anderson committed on August 7. And landing someone like Rashard Lawrence, a 5-star defensive tackle from Monroe, La., would definitely supply some momentum as National Signing Day nears.
Donaldsonville, La. native and 4-star wide receiver Stephen Sullivan recently revealed his top three, which included the home-state Tigers. Sullivan is projected as a strong TCU lean, but he does have LSU among his final choices and Miles can close with the best of them.
Below is a look at where LSU football recruiting stands as we head into the new year. The Tigers’ class moved back from No. 5 to No. 6 in the latest 247Sports Composite rankings, but there’s more than enough time and recruits left for LSU to jump back into the top five.
