LSU football recruiting update, as the Tigers continue to shape their 2017 class.

Once again, it was a slow week for Les Miles and the Tigers early in this 2017 cycle. If there’s any place the Tigers still made some moves, it was in the form of scholarship offers.

LSU extended offers to three players in the 2017 class – Jarez Parks, Jamal Riggins and Netori Johnson -and one in the 2018 class, Aidan Hutchinson.

Parks is a 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive end with the ability to rush off the edge with a hand in the dirt or standing up. He’s a true speed rusher with excellent backside pursuit.

His teammate, Riggins, is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound inside linebacker who relies on anticipation and recognition to make plays. There is some quickness to his game, but he could be a lot better if he didn’t go for as many arm tackles. Riggins is primarily a run-stopping linebacker.

Johnson is measured at 6-foot-4, 320 lbs and has a lot of power in his game. He’s nasty and tough on the interior offensive line, but his technique and footwork leave him vulnerable in pass protection. He’s best suited for a power-run scheme.

As for Hutchinson, there’s still a lot of time for him to develop before the 2018 cycle comes to fruition, but he’s 6-foot-4, 220 lbs and has a knack for stuffing the run. Hutchinson does a good job of reading and disengaging to track down the ball carrier, but he needs to work on firing off the ball and developing his pass-rush fundamentals.

Below is a look at how the Tigers’ 2017 recruiting class is looking right now.
