Recruiting profile featuring Lorenzo Lingard, the No. 14 prospect in the inaugural CI 25 recruiting rankings.

    Lorenzo Lingard Recruiting Profile

CI 25 Overall Ranking: No. 14
CI 25 Position Ranking: No. 2
    Hometown: Orange City, Florida
    School: University High School
    Position: RB
    Height: 6’1″
    Weight: 180 lbs

    Playing Style

This kid is special. While watching Lorenzo Lingard run, you can’t help but get excited about his potential. He’s a cut-back cat. If you put him in zone scheme, he’ll bust a few big runs for you and capitalize when defenders over pursue.

He’s strong and runs with great balance, so, in that way, he’s little like Marshawn Lynch. But the speed element is a huge part of Lingard’s game. The acceleration doesn’t blow you away, but when he gets going, he’s hard to catch. Plus, he gets his upper body involved when toting the rock and will throw some stiff arms around.

    What They’re Saying

“The running back has intriguing measurables at tailback, and flashes outstanding vision and craftiness when operating with the football as well.” – Scout

“Very impressive blend of size, speed and athleticism … bell cow type running back at the next level.” – ESPN

    Recruiting Overview

A while back, Lingard made it clear that he wanted to play football with his cousin, Avantae Williams, a defensive back in the 2020 recruiting class. Miami took advantage of that and got them both on board. As long as Williams intends to play for the Hurricanes, it’s going to be extremely difficult for any program to sway Lingard away from Miami.

Florida State’s backfield is crowded and doesn’t necessarily need to add Lingard, so don’t expect the Seminoles to hang around in this recruitment. Florida also has interest, but the Gators will likely turn their attention elsewhere if they realize they can’t catch up to Miami.
