Imagine the best birthday gift you’ve ever received. Now, think about how cool that is compared to what 4-star offensive tackle Austin Deculus had on his 17th birthday.

Deculus told SEC Country he received a call from Les Miles for his birthday a couple weeks ago. The LSU head coach and his staff not only wished the nation’s No. 16 offensive tackle a happy birthday, they even sang to him.

“It was my birthday a couple of weeks ago, and the whole LSU coaching staff, including Les Miles, called to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to me,” Deculus said.

While he’s scheduled to make an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge, La. this upcoming weekend — his fourth visit — Deculus already knows who he’ll pick between LSU, Alabama and Michigan on May 20.

Aside from doing everything but physically blowing his candles out, LSU has an advantage in its playing style, which Deculus is very familiar with.

“It’s how I fit in,” he said. “I play with an aggression, so I’d fit in perfectly. The offense my school runs — it’s relatively close to LSU with that power. So basically, I’m already more accustomed than some people are that are coming in. I get nasty with it.”

He’s a 6-foot-6, 325-pound masher on the front line. Deculus not only brings elite size and strength, but he’s a nasty blocker who drives defensive linemen into the dirt when he finishes blocks.

He’s athletic and versatile enough to move along the line, too, which is always an added benefit.

If Miles had a birthday wish to make, it would probably be for Deculus to spend the next three to four years bullying defensive linemen in a Tigers uniform.

Deculus is the No. 123 overall recruit in 2017.
