Head coach Les Miles is back in good standing with LSU fans, but that could all disappear with another disappointing season.

Les Miles came extremely close to being fired from his job as head football coach at LSU last season. A three-game losing streak in November had a faction Tigers fans calling for his head, yet Miles was able to close the season with two consecutive wins and keep his job.

Now, he is back in the good graces of Tigers fans, but LSU Insider Eric Richey says that can change quickly.

“Right now, just to get a feel for the community, Les is loved again with the way he saved his job and came back and won those last two games last year against Texas A&M and then again in the bowl game against Texas Tech,” Richey told Campus Insiders. “Everybody loves Les right now, but they’ll fall right off that ‘I love Les’ bandwagon if he runs through another three-game losing streak like he did last November to not only Alabama, but Ole Miss, Arkansas and really not even close losses.”

The expectations around the LSU program are always high, but entering the 2016 season, they seem to be at the maximum level. The defense is fierce, running back Leonard Fournette is one of the best in the country, and the Tigers are expected to do some major things in Miles’ 12th season in Baton Rouge.

So, will the season be a disappointment if the Tigers don’t reach the College Football Playoff?

“No question, especially with the expectations of this football team,” Richey said. “This year, I think no question. It’s College Football Playoff or bust for Les Miles or he’ll be right back on that hot seat because these Tigers fans, they’re rabid. They want LSU to win football games, especially with the high expectations and the preseason rankings.”
