The 2016 NFL Scouting Combine doesn’t always go as planned for aspiring professional football players. That’s why schools hold pro days — to help their players impress NFL scouts and coaches.

LSU’s pro day on Monday wasn’t just a chance for the Tigers to polish their draft stocks. It was an opportunity for a journalism class to get some words of wisdom from Les Miles.

“Don’t wear red,” Miles told the students, and that’s probably the best advice he could have given them.

When interviewing athletes and coaches, it’s best to know who you’re dealing with. If the goal is to pull a quote from Miles or one of his players, it’s probably a good decision to not wear anything resembling LSU’s biggest rival over the last decade: Alabama. Pretty much all of the Tigers’ rivals have some shade of red – Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

Not only is that an easy way to be sent packing without anything to write, but it’s also the perfect way to make sure your credential is taken away.

Conversely, it’s probably a good idea to leave the purple and gold at home if you find yourself in Tuscaloosa, Ala. or any other SEC town.
