Leonard Fournette Injury Status: RB Likely Out For Florida Game

LSU running back Leonard Fournette will likely miss his second straight game with an ankle injury as the Tigers visit Florida.

LSU running back Leonard Fournette will likely miss his second straight game with an ankle injury as the Tigers visit Florida.

LSU will enter Gainesville on Saturday to take on one of the best defenses in the nation in the Florida Gators. Unfortunately for the Tigers, it seems that they will be without explosive skills of running back Leonard Fournette.

During Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference, interim head coach Ed Orgeron said that the All-American back will likely be out.

“It doesn’t look like Leonard is going to play. We don’t know yet. He hasn’t practiced yet.”

Fournette has missed two games already this season, including the 42-7 win over Missouri last week in Baton Rouge. He has been struggling with an ankle injury since the preseason when he hurt it in a scrimmage.

The Tigers can fall back on the legs of Derrius Guice, who has filled in nicely for Fournette. The sophomore rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns last week against Missouri after getting the start.

With the firing of both head coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, LSU opened up the offense last week and plans to do it against the Gators’ defense, who give up only 90 yards per game on the ground.
