Leonard Fournette’s 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine, as the former LSU running back looks to increase his draft stock.
March 3, 2017Leonard Fournette’s 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine, as the former LSU running back looks to increase his draft stock.
Leonard Fournette comes into the NFL Draft as one of the most talked about prospect in recent memory. How good can he be? How will those lingering injuries that caused him to miss a lot of last season affect his professional career?
No matter, Fournette figures to be one of the first running backs taken in the upcoming draft in April, although he did arrive at the combine heavier than expected, weighing in at 240 after playing the 2016 season at about 235.
When healthy, Fournette is a beast of a back, able to both outrun defenders while not being afraid to run over them as well. That combination has many NFL scouts drooling, and coaches hoping that Fournette arrives to them at 100%.
In three seasons at LSU, the New Orleans native ran for 3,830 yards and 40 touchdowns, including a remarkable 2015 season that saw him approach the 2K mark with 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Looking to show his speed, Fournette ran an unofficial 40-yard dash of 4.51 at the combine, and will also have an attempt to improve on that at LSU’s Pro Day.
