Laquon Treadwell is participating in the NFL Combine, where he implied that Jalen Tabor is the best defensive back he's faced.
February 25, 2016Laquon Treadwell discussed the best defensive back he’s faced in college during interviews at the NFL Combine.
While he won’t be running the 40-yard dash at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, former Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell knows who he is as a pass catcher.
The former Rebels’ game isn’t predicated on speed and burning cornerbacks down sidelines. His game is built on winning one-on-one battles with defensive backs when the ball is in the air.
When he was asked who some of the best defensive backs he faced in college were, Treadwell’s mind immediately went to a “D.B.U.” contender: the Florida Gators.
While Vernon Hargreaves III has gotten a lot of national recognition and will likely be a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft, Treadwell claimed Hargreaves’ teammate was a tougher matchup, implying Jalen Tabor as the better defensive back.
“The Florida corner. Not Vernon Hargreaves, the younger guy (Tabor),” Treadwell said in reference to the best defensive back he’s played against.
Tabor, who’s going into his junior season for the Gators, picked off four passes in the 2015 season.
If Treadwell’s scouting abilities are as astute as his receiving skills, Florida fans may be looking at another premiere cornerback projected as a top-10 draft pick when the 2017 NFL Draft rolls around.
