Four-star defensive tackle Langi Tuifua decommitted from Oregon on Wednesday, leaving the Ducks with 13 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.

The blocks continue to tumble for the Ducks in Eugene.

A day after Mark Helfrich was fired as head coach, Oregon lost another commitment from a 4-star recruit.

Langi Tuifua, the No. 22 defensive end and No. 260 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class, decommitted from the Ducks on Wednesday, leaving Oregon with 13 total commits in its 2017 recruiting class, which now ranks No. 31 in the nation.

Tuifua, who’s from South Jordan, Utah, released a statement regarding his decision.

“After talking it over with my family, and due to the firing of Coach Helfrich, and the instability of the coaching staff, I will have to decommit from the University of Oregon.”

Tuifua has multiple offers to choose from including Louisville, Michigan and Washington State, but it seems as though the main contenders for his commitment now are BYU and Utah.

If Oregon is able stabilize its coaching situation and make a high-profile hire with enough time left to court prospects before National Signing Day on Feb. 1, it wouldn’t be out of the question for Tuifua to re-commit. However, that doesn’t appear likely right now, as the recruiting dead period begins on Dec. 12 and would extend until mid-January.

Some of the names being floated around for the Ducks’ head coaching job are Boise State’s Bryan Harsin, Western Michigan’s P.J. Fleck and Florida’s Jim McElwain, among others.

The Ducks’ highest-rated commit now is 4-star recruit Jaylon Redd, from Rancho Cucamonga, California. He’s the No. 22 cornerback and No. 239 overall player in the class.
