Lane Kiffin is at it again on Twitter, sending out a picture of an Auburn jet saying he missed the Tigers. Is he being a troll, or just marketing his new job with the FAU Owls.

Lane Kiffin: expert troll, or marketing genius?

That is the question being asked after Kiffin’s latest tweet, one that has a picture of the Auburn University plane on a tarmac and the hashtag “#missuguys.”

While Kiffin had a history of trolling Auburn – along with many other rivals – during his time at Alabama, the tweet could also be seen as a piece of excellent marketing. Kiffin knows that every piece of social media he sends out will be scrutinized, parsed and discussed – I mean, I am writing about it right now – and it’s a way to draw attention to him and his new job as the head coach of the Florida Atlantic Owls.

Not that Kiffin needs more media publicity. He is, after all, the man that was dismissed by Alabama head coach Nick Saban a week before the College Football Playoff National Championship Game – his latest in a string of odd departures from jobs. There are also talks of a reality show following the Owls during Kiffin’s first season. With National Signing Day two weeks away, going viral on social media could attract the eyes of recruits and possibly lead them to Boca Raton.

In the end, it could just be Kiffin being Kiffin, bragging about going 3-0 against the Tigers as the offensive coordinator for the Crimson Tide. Or he could be marketing his new gig. Either way, we applaud you, Coach Kiffin. You have outdone yourself. Never change.
