I’ve been saying it since he took over the Under Armour All-America Game earlier this month. I believe K’Lavon Chaisson will end up in Austin. LSU has made it clear it needs him in the trenches, but with Lagaryonn Carson currently out of the class, Texas needs Chaisson more. He’s been made a priority, and I think he’ll end up having a great career with the Longhorns. Florida and USC are making late pushes, but it won’t be enough to keep him from Texas.

The eyes of Texas will be upon K’Lavon Chaisson as he decides to become a Longhorn. The Texas defense was not good last season, and they could use all the help they can get. Tom Herman will build a winner, but it is going to take some time. Players like Chaisson fitting into DC Todd Orlando’s defense will help the cause.

Chaisson had his pick of top-tier programs throughout the recruiting process, and some of the best recruiters in the country had to make a solid sell. There are few better than Tom Herman, who will be getting a stud defensive lineman next season. Chaisson also has LSU on his list, but he won’t be able to turn down Herman and will be headed to Austin.

One of the main reasons Tom Herman is now in Austin is due to his ability to recruit. While at Houston, Herman put together some great teams despite the Cougars not being considered a perennial powerhouse program. Now that he’s at a school like Texas, who should be able to lure recruits just because of the name on the front of their jersey, I don’t see Herman letting Chaisson, a Texas native, slip away. There is too much optimism surrounding the Longhorns right now for an out-of-state school to pull off a steal.

Tom Herman has been on Chaisson since his Houston days (Chaisson attended UH’s Junior Day this time last year). Now that Herman is working the state’s flagship university, this one is in the bag. Bevo has himself a new 5-star defensive end.
