Kirk Herbstreit has an idea where Nick Saban's future is headed, and it's not to the NFL.
January 11, 2016Will Nick Saban make a jump back to the NFL coaching ranks? That’s the popular question fans and media members have debated for years now.
Every time there’s an NFL opening, Saban’s name is automatically thrown into the hat. The popular consensus is that Saban has accomplished everything at the college level and the only frontier left for him to tackle is the NFL — the highest level in football coaching.
But why would he leave the near-perfect machine he’s created for the unknown? Sure, he would have the chance to win a Super Bowl and cement himself as the greatest coach in football history. But he’s practically already there with what he’s accomplished. Win a fifth championship in college and he enters a stratosphere very few before him have ever touched — college or pro.
There’s the potential to do more damage than good by heading back to the NFL.
Kirk Herbstreit shares the same sentiment.
“His next stop will be on the College Gameday set,” Herbstreit told The Dan Patrick Show on Monday.
Could Saban be part of College Gameday‘s post-Lee Corso plan? Land him and Steve Spurrier, and the show just might catch a second wind.
