Warriors forward Kevin Durant admitted and apologized for posting tweets criticizing Billy Donovan and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It’s hard to believe the odd third-party tweets criticizing Billy Donovan and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Kevin Durant’s Twitter feed were from Durant himself.

But they are, and on Tuesday, Durant admitted as such.

“I played a little too much, and that (expletive) really hurt me,” Durant told USA Today Sports on Tuesday. “To know that I affected Billy Donovan and the Thunder – like I love those people and I don’t never (want to hurt them). That was just me being a total (expletive) idiot. I own up to it. I want to move on from it.”

While it appeared that Durant meant to write the posts from a burner account, Durant denied having any other accounts to interact with fans, despite the way the tweets looked.

One player who wasn’t having his apology was Thunder power forward Enes Kanter. He took to Twitter to express his love for his team and city.

Durant and the Thunder won 55 games in his final season in Oklahoma City before losing to the Warriors in seven games in the Western Conference finals. There was already some bad blood after Durant left OKC to join the 2017 NBA Champion Warriors last summer.

While Durant has been taking plenty of flack for the posts, he says he doesn’t plan on staying away from social media and interacting with fans.

“I don’t think I’ll stop engaging with fans,” Durant said Tuesday. “I really enjoy it and it’s a good way to connect us all, but I’ll scale back a little bit right now and just focus on playing basketball. I want to move on from that; it was tough to deal with yesterday. I was really upset with myself. Definitely want to move on and keep playing basketball.”

It’s only a matter of time before the drama returns to the hardwood.
