January 13, 2017Kentucky wide receiver Jeff Badet has decided to transfer from the Wildcats program. He led the team in receiving yards this past season.
Kentucky will enter the 2017 season with high expectations and, just maybe, a chance to win its first SEC East division title.
The Wildcats will have to do it without their leading wide receiver from this past season, though, as Jeff Badet has announced that he will transfer out of the program.
“First off I want to thank the coaching staff here at UK for everything they have done for me,” Badet posted on Twitter. “Special thanks to Coach Stoops for believing in me 4 years ago to come here and represent the University of Kentucky. To my teammates, forever love you guys! Also want to thank Big Blue Nation for all of the support you guys have given to me my 4 years here. I can truly say BBN without a doubt is the best fan base in the country. With that being said, I plan on transferring to another University to play my 5th year. It is something I prayed about and have discussed with my family and we feel this is the best decision for me. Again I want to say thank you to everybody that I got a chance to build a relationship with and hope we can continue to keep that relationship.”
Badet caught 31 passes for 670 yards and four touchdowns for a Wildcats team that came on strong to finish 7-6, and make a bowl appearance for the first time in Mark Stoops’ four seasons of being head coach.
The departure of Badet follows the decision of running back Stanley “Boom” Williams to enter the NFL Draft. Williams rushed for 1,170 yards and seven touchdowns this season while sharing carries with freshman Benny Snell Jr.
