Kentucky vs. LSU prediction, online live stream and TV broadcast information for Saturday's regular season finale between the Wildcats and Tigers.
March 4, 2016The No. 22 Kentucky Wildcats will host the LSU Tigers in Lexington, Ky. on Saturday in the regular season finale for both squads.
The Wildcats (22-8, 12-5 SEC) have battled inconsistency down the stretch, but they have won two of their last three, including an 88-79 win over Florida Tuesday night. The Gators hung tough for most of that one, but the turning point came late in the second half. Jamal Murray buried threes on consecutive trips, which pushed the Kentucky lead to 13. The ‘Cats lead never dipped below double digits the rest of the way, as Kentucky locked up the road win. The Wildcats lost the turnover battle, 15-8, but they made up for it on the glass (plus-10) and shot a blistering 70 percent from three and 52.7 percent overall. Murray (21 points) and Tyler Ulis (19) got the help they needed, as all five starters for Kentucky posted double-figure scoring numbers.
The Tigers (18-12, 11-6 SEC) have some work to do if they want that NCAA Tournament bid, but a win over Kentucky at Rupp Arena to finish the season would go a long way. LSU has responded to losing three straight games by winning its last two, including an 80-71 win over Missouri Tuesday night. LSU looked solid early and held a 22-point edge at halftime. But it saw that lead crumble to four points late in the second half. That’s as close as Mizzou would get, as LSU converted its free throws down the stretch to hang on. LSU took care of the ball in this one, as it was plus-five in the turnover margin, and it was able to hit shots (52.8 percent from the field). Ben Simmons showed yet again why he’s the projected No. 1 pick in the draft with a near triple-double of 22 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists.
Saturday’s matchup between Kentucky and LSU will be the 113th between the two programs with the Wildcats holding an 86-26 advantage. The Tigers took the last meeting, 85-67, on Jan. 5 in Baton Rouge, La.
Below is everything you need to know about the matchup, including the Kentucky vs. LSU prediction, online live stream and TV broadcast info, and game notes.
Tyler Ulis and Jamal Murray have been “the guys” for Kentucky since the start of the season. They’ve waited for some time, but the supporting cast is finally showing up, which makes this team scary.
It’ll take a concerted effort on both ends of the floor to stave off an LSU team desperate for a big-time win, but the Wildcats will get it done. Look for Skal Labissière and Alex Poythress to build off their strong outings against the Gators and step up against Ben Simmons. They don’t need to shut Simmons down completely, but limiting his playmaking abilities will go a long way to making sure Kentucky locks up the win.
