The Wildcats (11-3, 1-1 SEC) are looking to bounce back from a shocking loss to LSU last time out, where the Tigers thrashed them 85-67 in Baton Rouge. Kentucky led 2-0 in the opening seconds, but that is the only lead they would have as LSU was in total control of the game from that point. Tyler Ullis led all scorers with 23 points and added six assists, while Jamal Murray finished with 21 points. No other Kentucky players would finish with more than six points. Looking ahead at the Wildcats schedule, Kentucky will welcome Mississippi State to Lexington on Jan.12 for the ‘Cats first SEC home game of the year.

The Crimson Tide (9-4, 0-1 SEC) finished the non-conference slate winning seven of eight games, but dropped the first SEC game of the season Thursday night to Ole Miss. Alabama took an eight point lead into halftime, but the Rebels surged back in their new arena to take a 53-52 lead with 9:22 to play. Ole Miss wouldn’t relinquish the lead from that point and held on to win, 74-66. The Tide were led by Retin Obasohan, who totaled a game-high 23 points and added six boards, four assists and three steals. Next up for Alabama is a visit from undefeated No. 22 South Carolina on Jan. 13.

Saturday’s matchup will mark the 143rd time Kentucky and Alabama have battled on the hardwood. The Wildcats have won three in a row, including a 70-55 victory the last time these two teams faced off.
