Kentucky Freshman De’Aaron Fox Is ‘John Wall Kind Of Fast’

Kentucky boasts another group of talented freshman, and guard De'Aaron Fox might be the best of them all. Fox is generating comparisons to former Wildcat John Wall.

Another group of talented freshmen have arrived at Kentucky, and guard De’Aaron Fox might be the best of them all.

Another basketball season has begun in Lexington, and much like every other season since John Calipari arrived in 2009, the Wildcats are full of talented freshmen that have the ability to take Big Blue Nation on a ride to a national championship.

This team might just be one of the best Calipari has helmed in the Bluegrass State.

“I think they are going to be really, really, really, really good,” Dave Baker, longtime announcer of SEC sports and host of UK/JMI Sports’ Texas Roadhouse Countdown to Tip-Off, said. “They are impressive. They have some great talent, a lot of versatility, and they can create some matchup problems for some people.”

A slew of guards, including freshman De’Aaron Fox, are at Calipari’s disposal and will allow the coach to return to his preffered offensive system.

“They can get back to playing that true dribble-drive that he [Calipari] likes to play,” Baker said. “He can go really big, he can go small and quick. He’s got finishers, scorers, some shooters. I think he just has really good balance on the roster.”

Fox, who just one week into the season was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, has certain qualities that remind Baker of a certain Wildcat currently playing in the NBA.

“That guy is like John Wall kind of fast. He is a blur. Not only can he blow by people, but he can finish when he gets to the rim.”

That’s a hefty comparison, but with the overall talent surrounding him, Fox could do something Wall didn’t during his one-year stopover in Lexington: win a national championship.
