Kansas vs. Austin Peay picks for the NCAA Tournament’s South Region first-round game.

Let’s get this out of the way right from the jump: if Austin Peay were to beat Kansas, it would be the greatest upset in the history of all sports. Move over Chaminade-Virginia, Notre Dame-UCLA, Texas Western-Kentucky and Super Bowls III, XXXVI, XLII, and any other candidates – a 16-seed taking down the prohibitive favorite in this year’s NCAA Tournament would trump the rest. You’d hear cries of “Let’s Go Peay” in every underdog montage for the next 50 years.

In a year where there’s been so much parity, Kansas feels like the least-flawed team in the field. The Jayhawks continued their winning ways, claiming another Big 12 regular season title under Bill Self, and hit their stride come Championship Week. Consider the fact that they beat out the likes of Texas, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Iowa State and Baylor in the conference. It’ll be shocking if the Jayhawks don’t live to see the second weekend.

Here’s a look at Campus Insiders’ Kansas vs. Hampton picks for the first round.

    Pete Fiutak

It’s Kansas, so you know what’s coming. It’s probably the best all-around team in the tournament, and it’s going to gag in soul-crippling fashion. UConn in the second round seems about right.

If the Governors beat Kansas, Dick Vitale will come to the Austin Peay campus and stand on his head. But this isn’t 1987, and Kansas isn’t that Illinois team.

    Ray Crawford

Self, Ellis, Mason, Graham, Seldon and his Uncle Anthony. You know what time it is. Rock Chalk wins the first round and everything else.

    Shae Peppler

#RockChalkJayhawk because Bill Self’s team wins the National Championship. Kansas has won 14 straight heading into the tournament – momentum on their side as is talent.

    Ken Bikoff

The Jayhawks just have too much talent and depth for the Governors to handle.

    Jordan Cornette

Kansas has too many weapons and is too good offensively. My national champs.
