Kansas State 30, UTSA 3

1. UTSA scored first on a 51-yard Daniel Portillo field goal in the first quarter, and that was it. The Wildcats scored 30 unanswered points with Joe Hubener starting it out with a one-yard run in the second quarter. The Roadrunners were still in the game, and then it was all KSU in the second half.
2. Jack Cantele hit field goals from 29, 27 and 21 yards for the Wildcats. Too many good drives stalled.
3. Kansas State controlled the game throughout, holding on to the ball for more than 35 minutes

Kansas State

– Joe Hubener, taking over for an injured Jesse Ertz, completed 12-of-23 passes for 243 yards, and led the team with 58 rushing yards and a score

– KSU averaged over 20 yards per pass. Winston Dimel caught two passes for 80 yards

– The Wildcats played Wildcat football, outside of the nine penalties. No turnovers and 35:05 time of possession

UTSA

– Blake Bogenschutz completed 20-of-33 passes for 156 yards, but was under pressure all game long

– Aaron Grubb caught nine passes, but for only 48 yards. His plays didn’t go anywhere

– UTSA only ran for 37 yards and committed 12 penalties for 92 yards
