March 10, 2016The Kansas Jayhawks have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Here’s a preview of the team and a prediction of how they’ll do during March Madness.
Team: Kansas Jayhawks
Record: 30-4
Conference: Big 12
Head coach: Bill Self
How they got here: Won conference tournament
You can’t ask for much more from the Jayhawks, who can beat teams inside and out and feature one of the better big men in the game in the form of Perry Ellis. Ellis isn’t going to wow anyone with his athleticism, but he’s a throwback big who can score, rebound and knock down the outside jumper. Frank Mason III and Wayne Selden are great at slashing to the bucket, and Devonté Graham is as explosive a scorer as you’ll find when he gets rolling.
Kansas doesn’t feature the best depth in the country, and although there isn’t a lack of talent on the bench, there can be a bit of a drop off beyond the top four. It’s more a matter of chemistry than anything else, and when KU’s defense breaks down or Ellis gets into foul trouble, the Jayhawks can be vulnerable.
The Jayhawks are one of the favorites to win the national title, and rightfully so. This is a team whose ceiling is as high as anyone’s, and KU better be playing with a chip on its shoulder. Anything less than a trip to the Elite Eight would be a huge disappointment.
