Kai-Leon Herbert is on the rise. The new 4-star recruit discusses why Florida leads for his services.
March 12, 2016American Heritage prospect Kai-Leon Herbert is on the rise. Herbert recently picked up a fourth star from Scout.com and an offer to Nike’s The Opening following his performance at the Opening Miami this past weekend.
Herbert received a bump into the Scout 300, climbing all the way to the No. 183 overall prospect and No. 23 offensive tackle. He’s a lengthy, athletic tackle who, given some added size, could anchor the left side of a line at the college level.
As for where his recruitment currently stands, the Florida Gators continue to lead for his services. Herbert recently spoke with Zach Alboverdi of SEC Country about Florida.
“I’m real close with them,” Herbert said of UF coaches Mike Summers and Randy Shannon. “They want me, but they’re not trying to rush me into a commitment. They tell me to just keep doing what I do and get better.”
Herbert is high on Florida’s location and academics. He also has a strong relationship with 2017 Florida commit Jake Allen.
“If I do commit there, that’d be amazing,” Herbert told SEC Country. “Staying in my state and being not too far from home is big. I like the academics at Florida and just everything about the school.”
The Gators currently have three commitments in their 2017 class. In addition to Allen, wide receiver Daquon Green and offensive tackle Kadeem Telfort have pledged to the orange and blue.
