Four-star shooting guard Josh Anderson has committed to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

Rick Stansbury has yet to coach a single game for Western Kentucky, and yet the Hilltoppers’ new head honcho is already making a significant impact at his new school.

After having already secured a commitment from five-star center Mitchell Robinson, Stransbury received his second 2017 commit in the form of Josh Anderson, a four-star shooting guard out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Madison Preparatory Academy product had ties with Western Kentucky assistants Quannas White and Shammond Williams.

Madison Prep coach Jeff Jones told Scout, “Quannas White is from Baton Rouge and Shammond was recruitng him at Tulane. They brought it to the table. He met coach [Rick] Stansury, took an official visit and loved the visit. He loves the opportunity for him and Mitchell Robinson to play together.”

And Stansbury loves the opportunity, too. Since being knocked out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2013, the Hilltoppers have yet to return to the Big Dance. With two high-profile recruits in the mix and a decorated head coach now at the helm, that is likely to change in the coming years.

With Anderson’s addition, Western Kentucky now has an athletic wing and one of the purest scorers in the 2017 class. He possesses an explosive first step that allows him to blow past opponents and attack the rim. Anderson is capable of finishing around the rim or pulling up for a mid-range jumper.

His three-point shot is a work in progress, though, and will need to improve before suiting up for the Hilltoppers.

Anderson is the No. 50 overall prospect and No. 12 shooting guard in the class of 2017.
